Shining Through

Edited extract from transcript of a talk at The Master Session, 6 November 2000.

Emotion darkens the light of life in us. We start to focus on the problem. We start to concentrate on it and that darkens the shining that is natural to us.

You are shining - far more than you can possibly think or imagine. You have to be true to your shining and not to the darkness you may apprehend from your self. Put your head up and be shining. To be shining is simply to be open. Emotion is closed and dark; it closes around you.

All you’ve got to do is walk around in your senses and be as easy as you can. And take action - whatever action you can, in any situation; which, if you really look at it, might not be the action that would please you. You might have to take some actions that are the reverse of what you would like.

It’s up to you. You know what causes darkness in you. You know what causes you to be emotionally reactive. You can do something about it. No good putting it on somebody else. You have to start with you. For you’re the only life in the universe. That’s an extraordinary thing but it’s true. You, the person, the body - the one listening to these words - are the only life in the universe. It’s your life.
