The Ultimate Search
From the last Tamborine Talk, December 1990.
The world of men and women is searching not for wealth or peace; not for power; not for love; not for God … But for honesty. Because what is the good of dishonest wealth or a dishonest God or dishonest love, a dishonest partner? Dishonesty grabs you, holds you, clamps and strangles you. But as everyone is being dishonest in their lives, they do not know that the ultimate search is to be honest. Honesty comes before everything you want.
The absence of honesty makes everyone discontented. Discontent is a certain symptom of dishonesty in the body, the life or the system. If there is discontent in society - and you’d better have a look around you - it means the society is dishonest. If there’s discontent in you, it’s because you’re not being honest. If your partner is discontent, your partner is not honest.
Discontent disappears when faced with honesty. It cannot exist. Be honest to life first. Then, as surely as night follows day, comes love; and every other desirable state.
