Love Your Enemies
From the Tamborine Talk August 1990
Here’s an example of how the teachings of dead masters become ideals due to wrong interpretations or just simply because the words are out of date: Jesus said, ‘Love your enemies’. You can’t love your enemies. It is impossible. Such impossible precepts make miserable sinners of people. I doubt if Jesus used the word 'love’ in 'Love your enemies’. It’s a long way from Aramaic to Hebrew to Greek to English. I’ll tell you the right words. 'Let go’ your enemies. Don’t hold on to them. Don’t be attached to your hate or dislike of them. Love is letting go. Love - let go - your enemies.
