This Topics section brings together recordings on the same subject. Each page begins with a quote in Barry’s own words, followed by a list of recordings where Barry speaks on the topic –sometimes as the main subject of the talk, sometimes within a broader context. Acknowledging the good being grateful

'That acknowledgement or gratitude goes up to here—the spirit or God or I within I—so the more gratitude you offer, real gratitude like that, which you don’t know why you’re doing it, you just love, that goes straight and strengthens your light inside.'

Being in the body

'The only thing that makes the body impure is the mind, and its the thinking process. When you start to give up the mind, which is done by breaking down the emotional identification, you start to connect with the body. As you give up thinking as an addiction, your intelligence starts to come into the body, and you start to feel more authority.'

Belief and religion

'Why do you believe in anything? Why? Because you are so unhappy and so unsure of the truth, so unenlightened, that you have to believe in something like leaning against a lamp post when you’re drunk.'

Death

'There is no death. There is death of the body and of everybody, and there is death of everything, because that is the nature of existence. Here, death reigns here, even life can’t overcome death of the body. Eventually everybody dies, because that is the nature of existence. Everything must die or pass away... When the body dies, all it means is the projection is withdrawn...'

Getting your life right

'That’s one of the pillars of my teaching – to ask you, is your life right? Have you got your life right?... That means, do you enjoy every area of your life? Do you enjoy your work? Do you enjoy your love life. Do you enjoy rightness with your mother and father?'

God realisation

Levels of psyche

Life that animates the body

'Every living form is animated by life. As soon as life withdraws, the living form dies – it stops – it is dead, finished – and then it rots because there’s no preserving presence of life in it... Life forms are living, but life is not living... Life is autonomous in its own right, and animates every living thing and cannot be understood, but can only be realised and loved.'

Living and life

'You are life, but you give most of your time to living. And once you give most of your time to the living you give most of your time to worry, concern, problems, and difficulties – and that’s what the human race has done. And of course, we are all members of this human race, but we’re not all attached to living. Very few are detached from identification with living. When there is detachment from living, there is no more worry. Do you hear me? There is no more worry.'

Man and woman in love

'I give you a new way, and that is the way of the love of man and woman, because that has not been mentioned on this earth. It has never been really made as a practice towards the state of love and God.'

Practical advice for relationships

'Next time there’s any argument, stop not to accuse another, not to say, 'Oh, you never listen,' not to say 'you’re to blame.' But just say, 'I don’t want to argue with you anymore. I will not argue with you anymore.''

Psychic phenomena

'Everything in meditation is psychic, you’re then entering the psyche at the dark. There are psychic colors, which are they’re more brilliant than what you just described. They are more brilliant than the colors here. Real psychic colors are more a more more brilliant. That’s the only word I can use. There are psychic smells. We’ve often heard of the yogis, and they use psyche because it’s a form of it’s a form of of power. The psyche is very entrancing. It’s entrancing because you receive information that the mind says, Oh, I couldn’t have done this. This is coming from somewhere else, and it is, and you start thinking that this is the truth... and it is not the truth...'

Reflected intelligence

'You are unique on this earth because you are reflective life on Earth, whereas the cows and the birds aren’t reflective. They’re just instinctive. The only trouble is that you reflect on the problem, you don’t reflect on the good. It’s as simple as that…'

Stillness

'Divine love is personified by stillness in an individual man or woman. Not a stillness that is silent and empty but a stillness that is extremely active, extremely present, oscillating at such speed that it is absolutely still. That is what the device of meditation is about. Meditation is a device to bring you to a state of stillness which is so swift that it is the medium of love, sheer love, as you, the individual.'
